Why do you love being a coach?
Kids are just fantastic. Always willing to have fun and laugh without being too serious about life. It really makes your day easy being outdoors teaching kids how to play soccer. Seeing the excitement and joy on a little one’s face when they score a goal is very rewarding.
Favourite coaching moment?
Oh man there are so many great moments. There was a little boy who I coached for ages who was so shy. It took him a long time to come out of his shell with me. I saw him grow up and become more and more confident each term, and he then became a very skilful, loud, and excited boy. His mum would always say, “this is not the same boy who started Ginger Sport!”.
When you’re not coaching, where would we find you?
Fishing either from a kayak or a nice peaceful river. If not there hanging out with friends.
If you could be any character, who would you be and why?
I would have to say a Ninja Turtle! They are awesome ninjas with lots of energy and always willing to help people. Plus, who doesn’t love cheese pizza!
